Vala Programming Language

Vala is a C#/Java like langauge that compiles down to C+glibc. Used heavily for developing gnome desktop applications. Before I discovered D (and to certain extent nim), I had hoped that Vala would be a nice compiled langauge to use. However, the community of Vala appears to not care beyond desktop applications.
