Went to see the Encounters in the Wild exhibition at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath ( C K P ) at the invitation of Mr. MN Jayakumar, Retired IFS Officer, who also happens to be my neighbour.

We took the metro to Mantri Square Mall and an auto to the venue. The first fare estimate was Rs.40 for a distance of slightly less than 1km. But, no drivers appeared to have accepted the fare, and the app suggested I offer a bonus (I forget the exact wording as I busy negotiating with a driver when I glanced at the screen; would have taken a screenshot otherwise). So, this is how Namma Yatri does “surge pricing”? Interesting nonetheless. I agreed to pay Rs.70 to CKP and got on the auto. Paid Rs.80 when I got off as I didn’t have change plus the driver made some polite grumbling about “innu swalpa kodi saar”. The same journey back was negotiated at Rs.100 with a different driver.

The event was well attended. I met Mr & Mrs MNJ who were cordial hosts and answered our many questions.

Hall 1 was about Tigers. It is the 50th year of “Project Tiger”. I had rarely seen so many “moods” of tigers and tiger family in one place and it was captivating to see vivid photos of tigers.

On the way back we stopped at Mantri Square mall for a cup of kalmane coffee.
