Friday, Oct 6, 2023 – Day 3 of my visit to Mysuru.

kukkarahaḷḷi kere

Went for a walk around kukkarahaḷḷi kere. It appears to be a largely untouched space. The labels on the trees about the walking path is a nice touch and is a learning opportunity for the curious walker.

After the walk, met with HS’s cousin who is a builder and did a tour of some of the houses he has built and is building. Mysuru is definitely a more desirable place to have a house than Bengaluru. We all breakfast at “Mysore Mylari Veg” (not the original Mylari hotel) in datṭṭahaḷḷi(?). Good coffee.

The train back to Bengaluru is at 1:05. It is a “Vande Bharath” express. It would my first time taking the new service.

Train Journey

After getting 15 minutes and getting into the waiting train 20608, I realized that the the Apple Wallet pass does not display the coach and seat number. Had to dig out the confirmation email to find it.

Train compartment is clean and comfortable. Next time should remember to book a seat in the range 35-44 if you want sit in the middle. At least in this train seats 1-39 are facing the direction of travel.

The speed of the train is displayed on a large screen along with route information and advertisement; Na.Mo Appears prominently in the infomercial. The train never exceeded 100kmph, though VB trains can apparently go as fast as 160kmph.

Door to door from Mysore hosts’s home to my home was less than three and half hours. Started at 12:35, reached home at 3:55.
